About

Tara Greene, LCSW

Hello, I am Tara Greene, LCSW. I am a social worker by nature and by profession which means I have always been passionate about people and relationships. I sought professional training to create social change- one individual, one couple, and one family at a time. I believe all change begins within ourselves as we understand our thoughts and feelings and how they drive our behavior. I believe our bodies hold a wealth of knowledge and are a great resource to us. We feel emotions in our bodies- that’s why they are called feelings. When we experience trauma our body becomes activated and we go into flight or fight or we shut down and freeze.

I work best with clients who want to change and are seeking support, practical skills and increased self-awareness. The clients I work best with are wanting more from their relationships and are unable to make lasting change. Often they have become stuck in old patterns of anxiety, depression and numbing out. I use a variety of modalities to work with my clients and assist them to process emotions, care for the parts of themselves that feel hurt or wounded and make effective behavioral change.

Events from the past influence the ways we behave in the present. The human psyche is incredibly wise and adaptive and it can withstand a lot of trauma. The trouble is, some behaviors, ways of thinking and ways of relating to others that used to keep us safe are no longer helpful. In fact, for many of us, old ways of coping can become maladaptive. I enjoy working with my clients to better understand what wounds and patterns of thinking are keeping them stuck. Trauma therapy is my passion and I use a trauma informed lens in my work with individuals and couples. It has been my great pleasure to learn EMDR, IFS, psychosomatics, and body calming practices and other mind-body bridging techniques and incorporate them into my psychotherapy practice so I can guide my clients to access the wisdom of their own bodies.

Allow me to guide you on your path toward healing and increased happiness using my extensive training, experience, and wisdom. With empathy, intuition, grounded presence, and humor I help my clients feel comfortable in session and gain skills to use in their lives outside of the therapy office. Populations served:

Individual adults and couples.
